OT N00b Poker Question on implied odds

Following recommendations on this site, I picked up a copy of Harrington on Hold 'em Volume 1.

I'm having a hard time understanding implied odds.

In Problem 4-1 you are the big blind holding 7♠ 6♠. Blinds are $15/$30. 2nd position raises to $60. Everyone else folds. Harrington says to call, with your pot odds of 3.5 to 1. I'm fine with this.

He then states that "your implied odds make this an even stronger call". By my reckoning, you are getting 3.5 to 1 odds only on the $105 already in the pot. With only one player against you, if there is any extra betting you will be getting only even money, since you will have to match your opponent's bet. This implies to me that your overall odds can only worsen. For example, if you both end up betting another $200, then you would be investing a total of $230 to win a pot of $535, so your final odds are under 2.5 to 1.

Can someone explain how I should be thinking about this, please?
