Backgammon provides a crude model of the interraction of opposing streams of objects.
But what does this apply to in the real world?
The racing of charged particles between positive and negative poles? The stampeed of football teams on a kickoff return - or Christmas shoppers in a crowded mall? The collision of two galaxies? Could it be extended to cover the flow of ideas between two competing paradigms in science, or the conflict of ideologies between different cultures?
No need to look to the exremely large or extremely small, or the extreme follies of humans.
Backgammon mimics the motion of two opposing herds of donkeys through a narrow mountain pass.
