How to configure GNUbg to play Player 2' move

I am enjoying the hell out of Stick's Daily Quiz. Some of the positions he posts call for the play or double of Player 2 (the dark checkers).

Whey I cut and paste those XG IDs to GNUbg, I can't seem to get it to work (i.e., when it's the dark checkers' turn). GNUbg says it's the computer's turn, so nothing happens. Switching players does not seem to work either.

Wlll appreciate seeing a solution or work-around.
