There was a recent discussion on the forum about the myth (which Stick may want to debunk in one of his articles) that we should fear coming under the gun. Here is an example.
I noted that my opponent had 3 checkers bearing on my straggler, so, fearing that I was coming under the gun, I decided to run. The bot thinks it was a stupid play.
Apparently I failed to take into consideration several elements, for example: 1. The slot on the opponent's ace point. 2. My 4-point board is much stronger than his. 3. I am behind in the race. 4. I am unlikely to get gammoned.
The problem is that I just don't know how to sort the wheat from the chaff, so I still don't understand why my play was so bad. Hey, what do you expect from a BQ posting?
Will appreciate seeing a crisp explanation of why I should have waited.
Alert: very bad move ( -0.112)
