What clock to get; what time limits to set

Reviewing the flyer for the 31st Chicago Open I noted that some of the divisions were "Clock Required".

Having never played using a clock, but wishing to learn and get used to it, a couple of questions come to mind:

1. What clock should I get?

2. What are the time settings typically used in compentition?
