Reference Position?

Most of us generally know the proper play surrounding the 'position classique'. Most of us know if one picks up the fifteenth checker and closes it out w/ perfect spares, he/she has 6% or so chance of winning the game.

But what is the proper cube play if Player A, with either a centered cube or holding the cube, rolls 1-x leaving the double shot and Player B hits the checker on the two point? Player B, assuming they know how to play, may or may not be able to manipulate play to obtain the second checker. So, cube play by Player A:

a) If Player B has a closed board? b) If Player B has a 2-7 six prime? c) If Player B has two or more open points in front of his containment structure?

Obviously, score considerations are important in match play. In the match where I faced this decision I led 2-1/11.
