UPDATE: Los Angeles Open / USBGF Tournament of Stars

So far, there are 25 Founding Sponsors confirmed to compete in the USBGF Tournament of Stars. It kicks off on Thursday, June 9, the day before the start of the L.A. Open. Mochy and Falefel, amongst others, have also confirmed their attendance.
The Tournament of Stars is a Doubles event open to USBGF Founding Sponsors, Giants of Backgammon, and invited Backgammon Greats who have made significant contributions to the game. Partners are selected by Founding Sponsors’ level and date of contribution. Giants may not be paired with Giants. There is no entry fee, however, optional side pools are offered at $500 and additional $500 increments with 100% return. Registration closes at Noon on Thursday, June 9, and play commences at 1:30 pm on Thursday.

As a result of this event being tacked onto a long-established ABT tournement, the L.A. Open is seeing some rather large projected numbers a full three weeks in advance! To date (according to the MFIC), the Championship Open has a full 64-player field, with a wait list of 3. The Super-32 is now the Super-48, with 42 players confirmed. The Intermediate Open is slated for 30 players, and the Paul Dingwell Amateur Jackpot is slated for 19.
