BQ: Come on, he has no board!

I recall some of y'all liking the BQ (Beginner Question) postings, so I am getting back to them.

As a reminder, BQ's have the following elements: (1) I screwed up the play; (2) even after seeing the bot's play, I can't quite figure out why the bot is correct; and, (3) mediocre players like me will greatly benefit from your knowledgeable analysis and comments.
