OT: US Open Golf...

New major underway. It seems Mr. McIlroy is on fire again, this time trying not to lose everything on the floor come weekend.

I'm very impressed by his opening bogey-free 65 on this monster of a course (Congressional Blue).

Once you step onto the 9th tee, your round is about to change from something enjoyable, to a tough test of skill and character. They have lengthened the course on several holes since the last US Open here in 97, the 18th is a good example - a par 4 playing 523 yards with a difficult water-guarded green, and also the 9th has been stretched with a new tee, making it a monstrous 636 yards! (and thus one of the few par 5s on the tour that averages significantly above par).
