Math question: color of the confidence indicator

XG2 displays a little color indicator on RO to quickly show the user if stat sig has been reached. The color is a gradient from red (0% chance the move is the best) to green (100% chance the move is the best).
I did not want a linear relation and picked the following formula: C=P^2 (where C is the color and P the chance the move is the best).
Now that i am thinking about it more, I think the choice of formula is bad. What i think is important to achieve is to show quickly if a move is the best or cannot be. Thus the formula should be symmetrical around P=0.5, C=0.5.
For instance the current formula show bright red for a move that has still 5% chances to be the top move.
My suggestion C= |P-0.5|pwr * (P-0.5) / 0.5pwr + 0.5
where pwr=8 or even higher.Suggestions are welcomed
Thanks
PS: for cube actions as P is between 50% and 100%, P is transformed using P := P * 2 - 1
