XG2 update problem

Hello - for the first time I am having trouble updating XG2 to the most current version. When I open XG2, I am prompted that there is an update available and select yes. A pop up indicates that the XG updater tool needs to be upgraded before I can use the program - when I select yes to upgrade the tool, I get another pop up that shows update tool upgrade pending, but nothing happens.

Suggestions please.
