Hi Leo,

I can give some reasons why hitting is good here. Maybe Stick or another expert can elaborate.

1. One of the themes Marty Storer continually promotes is the importance of Magriel's Criteria, which basically says, "if your board is stronger than opponent's board, you should make bold plays."

2. Opponent's best chance in this game is to make an anchor on your four point. You should take risks to keep him off that point.

3. You have 13 checkers in the "zone". That's plenty of material to sustain a blitz.

P.S. I don't know if I would have seen this over the board, but once you point it out the double hit seems pretty obvious. Nice position.
