I've heard from other Danes that Gus hasn't maintained his level in tennis.

Stick: Before turning to full time gambling, Gus was among the best junior players in Denmark. I think he won the Danish championship as a junior, not sure if it was singles or doubles - Google probably knows the details (his name was Gustav Jacobsen back then). I don't know at what level he actually peaked before quitting serious tennis, but I know that tennis is similar to so many other sports in the way that if you have played it at a high competitive level you're just so much better than all the hobby players out there.

That became very evident recently when Brandon Adams (poker smart guy) played a prop tennis bet with Patrik Antonius - basically laying $35K to $350K. Patrik was a big talent in his youth, but suffered injuries at his very first tournament as a pro and had to give up a career as playing pro and started teaching instead. That was until he started playing that funny little card game of course...

Adams was by his own words "obsessed with tennis from age 11-14, didn't reach the top but played at a very high level". Then picked up the game again in collage. He also said that he practiced almost daily for 8 months up to the game vs. Patrik.

The result? I wont spoil it for those who hasn't seen the clip:

Now, Gus and Patrik have a $200K tennis bet going, but it has been postponed on several occasions, and I wouldn't bet my money even that the bet will ever be settled but you'll never know. I suspect that Gus and Patrik were the same caliber of talents as juniors but that Gus' technique and physique are longer away from his memories compared to Antonius...

Stick, it's obvious from your previous posts on the subject that you are very good at tennis - but how good are you actually? Have you played professionally?

BTW: On the subject of tennis players going poker/bg, David Benyamine was a pro tennis player before turning pro poker player.
