I should point out that Will's account being hacked is only one possibility. Since I don't have the email myself, and can't see the headers it is possible (and happens frequently) that someone crawled a website finding email addresses that may be associated and then someone forged Will's name (but put a return email address that was not Will's). I'd only know by seeing the email itself.

Few years back this last scenario happened to me. Someone forged my name (and supplied an email address that wasn't mine) and sent an email to a group of people I associated with telling them I was in trouble. This method is quite common because it doesn't actually require illegally accessing someones email account.
