You are up in the race, have a big board advantage, 13 checkers in the zone, and 2 blots to bat around. Attack! In comparison, if you anchor and play safe, white may turn this into a kind of prime vs prime game / mutual holding game by anchoring or escaping a back checker. You still have an advantage, but less so, and your number of gammon wins go way down.
