Any good at tennis?

I guess that depends on what we'd be competing in.
In some sports, it's very clear if the physique has a big impact on the outcome, while in other sports it might be the other way around.
In motor racing you're evenly matched if you weight the same. If there's a difference in some series you even it out by adding weight.
Shooting pool/snooker/golf/darts/curling/sailing/fencing/shooting is in that same category.
Running, swimming, cycling, cross country skiing, etc. is the complete opposite.
Then you have all the in between sports. Soccer I guess is a good example.

Take a look at Messi - I don't see him having a special physique making him so much better than anyone else (and there must be thousands of players having spent an equal amount of time practicing). You always have some of these very obvious rare talents in different sports where you know that what they do (what they have accomplished within their sport - not the results, but simply the level of their game) is not something that comes from simply putting in the hours and getting good advise. A lot of these people was mentioned in the Federer thread.
On the flip side of that coin are the thousands of people who really put in many hours have the physique required for their metier and really try hard to learn a particular sport, but doesn't have what it take. I recall seeing a young Stromile Swift in the NBA - what a beast. Clearly it wasn't his physique that has now put him in the Chinese league after failing and failing in the NBA. And in the early years I guess it wasn't lack of hours playing the game either. I know at some point he got into some messy lifestyle, but that's more like a reaction than a cause I think.
You have tons of these athletes in all sports. From the pro levels and all the way down to leisure players.

But Stick, I often feel the same way in a lot of situations like you describe it! Scaringly often. I'm pretty sure I'd play below 3.0 if I put in the hours required. Maybe we just need a reality check every now and then. Someone to beat us into a more reasonable and humble line of thinking! It's just so damn hard to find that someone - I'm still searching...
