The problem is unless I really knew that my opponent would drop I would hate doubling here because when they take I hate life to a certain extent. In a chouette cubing against the field I'd be ok with it as long as the first person to act wasn't a super strong player/the others aren't likely to follow the guy who is going to be making the right decision.

One of the problems you face if you're the (significantly) stronger player when bluffing your opponents is that when they take something like this where it was a blunder to double and turn the game around and you face a 4 cube you want to slit your wrists. The stronger player hates seeing cubes at the 4 level and practically should drop a lot more of them than are dropped in actual play.
