After 5/2*, obviously White's 2's hurt us, especially since White has a three-point board, but even if White enters with a 1, she's still sort of at the edge of our prime in the sense that our bar point isn't made yet. So 5/2* doesn't seem to work as well as 8/7 does as a containment play. What about as a tempo hit or an attacking play? I don't think we really need a tempo here (e.g., White has no other blots). Attacking isn't such a bad idea, but it's DMP so attacking tends to be devalued relative to priming, compared to a normal score.
In general, I often find in these sorts of positions that if the opponent has more good spots to enter from the bar than direct leaping numbers, then it's better not to hit loose. Here White can enter in 2 good spots (1pt and 2pt) if we hit loose, but if we make the prime then White has only one direct leaping number (6) to escape. So I'll make the prime with 8/7. Not sure about the 2 but I'll unstack since White's hits don't seem excessively dangerous.
20/18 8/7.
