Pointing freezes Opp's checkers for a roll -- 2/3's of the time -- but I'd count Opp's 1-6* from the bar as winners for him (they won't all win, but Opp may get a second chance to roll a 1-6, with or without hitting). Since I'm not convinced 7/2* 5/2 wins enough more gammons to make up for those losses, I'd play the normal-looking 5/2* 19/14.

Non-hitting numbers aren't on my radar, and the problems with 5/2* 6/1* are (1) fewer ways to make the 2 point and (2) more important, the 8 extra rolls Opp would have to put us on the bar with an entering ace, usually giving him a roll or more to bring the outfield checkers home, lessening the gammon risk.
