If you had any wins yourself, then you might pay more attention to who is raking the results
No, I wouldn't. I've won stuff, I haven't won the Open event at a tourney. Tournament results are next to meaningless. I'll keep spitting that until the day I die. (which none of you will see cause you'll all be dead first)
Why bother to play any tournaments if you can't win the respect and acknowledgement from your peers? It's never going to be a positive equity to travel and pay for accomodation and food on top of entry fees.
You can't win respect from me by winning a tournament. You can get it from me by how you play, by discussing positions, etc... You can't do that unless you attend a tournament. I've met a couple Europeans who told me they'd never vote for me (or anyone) on the Giants list unless they played them. In other words, they agree. They couldn't give a shit how many tournament wins someone racks up, they want to see them play to see how good they are. Most of the experience is because I enjoy the theory of the game more than the win/loss of the game itself as I suspect most top players do. The social draw is probably the biggest reason for a lot of people attending bg tourneys.
If you want to give someone respect for tournament play I think you should focus on overall win/loss record rather than winning tournaments don't you?
