Monte Carlo Update

When I meet new people they ask me about backgammon and how good I am. They ask me what I'm ranked because that's a normal question for someone that doesn't know. I always preface my answer with the skinny on what the Giants list is and how meaningless it is for 'ranking' players. Then I tell them and they're like 'You're #7 in the world!? The whole world!?' And again, I chuckle and try to explain it but never get my point across. It would be the same for me personally if I had miraculously won MC (hard to win it when I can't get past the 1st round). If someone called me the 'World Champion' it would be a joke to me and you'd for sure see me smirk ... all that would go on in my head is 'I picked the right time to hit a lucky streak and win a big tournament'.
