Like many newcomers to FIBS, some mistakenly believe that each client is a separate program AND separate server. Of course the truth is that FIBS is the main server and different software developers have created their own backgammon programs (clients) to interface to it. So there are many different FIBS clients that interface to one server.

Of course someone will probably make the observation that there are some re-implementations of the FIBS server that will work if FIBS.com were to go down. That is true, but they are not heavily used.

If the software is using fibs.com and port 4321 then that is definitely the main FIBS server run by Patti and is where these matches are being played.
