I think this is a typical case where the pattern matching we've learned is corrected by looking deeper in the search tree without cutting off to early.

BGB 1-ply makes the move I've made without much ado (14-6) and higher plays find the correct one. It is pretty obvious after you considered it really as a contender, but I guess only very gifted players will find it OTB other than by accident. I'm surely never...
