Interesting variant, Neil. If White's bar point makes a significant difference then that would seem to confirm my initial instinct that a quick hit is a significant part of White's vig. But maybe that's a false interpretation?

Also, I'm somewhat curious how much of a difference it makes if we move White's spare checker on her anchor back to her 24pt (see below). That would produce a position that is closer to how I initially parsed it, since in that variant, I think White will have more difficulty springing the fifth back checker at will.
