Can someone help me with answering the question of how much contact is too much contact, and how much timing is not enough?

You are being too modest. The exercise you just went through answered your own question better than almost any human being could. In general, there is no substitute for going through a lot of positions, just as you did, and developing a sense for what is going on.

In short, congratulations on an excellent and instructive post!

The only other remark I have is that the correct spelling is "Keith."
