#1 21/15 7/2*. No cracking on 4-4.
#2 I like making the nine point -- no blot, a fine blocking point, and three direct attacking numbers -- but I think 8/4 6/4 with the third homeboard point is slightly better. 24/20 13/11 crossed my mind long enough to be rejected as weak on both sides of the board.
#3 In a recently posted position ... where was it ... anyway, Stick pointed out that before you rolled your fingers should have been itching to reach for certain checkers, and here I can't stand leaving 3 checkers on the 24 point. Between 24/21 14/10, 24/21 24/20 and 24/21 10/6, the first looks like too much asking to be pointed on, the second looks weak for outfield coverage and direct threats, so I'd play 24/21 10/6. I looked at the banana schplit plays but thought they were too wide open.
#4 This is the toughest of the five problems (I hope!) so after making an unsatisfying choice I found that I am not smarter than a fifth grade bot, which did not admonish me harshly for choosing the 4th best play, until I admitted that I didn't even see play number One. I was looking for a play after which the largest proportion of numbers would play well, and by that standard I still like my play better than number Three and number Two, but I neglected to consider (hint!) that sometimes being unable to play a number is just as good as playing one.
#5 Down only 7 pips ignoring distribution after the play here at DMP I think it's right to make a race of it with with 21/13. We should be a little dog then and I'm not seeing that 7/2 5/2 and contact makes us any less of an unfavorite.
