Current Meijin (The most important tiltle in Shogi) holder "Moriuchi Toshiyuki" is a member of Japanese Backgammon Federation. http://www.moriuchitoshiyuki.net/

He is a "real" member, who pays anual membership fee (about $110) and comes to club and plays backgammon.
