In Response To: Prime Count: Interpretations (Higonefive)

The Prime Count is "a" method for estimating cube action in prime vs. prime scenarios. There are eight criteria:

TIMING - Compute the pip count for each prime (excluding runners) - for each extra pip add 1pt

PRIME - Number of points in the prime - for each extra point add 8pts

RUNNERS - trapped behind a prime - for each extra runner add 10pts

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

GAPS - for a missing 4 or 5pt - add 5pts

BUILDERS - A 4 prime will have 4 builders, a 5 prime 2 and a 6 prime 1 - for each builder less subtract 3pts; for each builder more add 3pts.

ANCHORS - for a 2pt anchor - add 2pts; for a 3pt anchor - add 5pts

SIXES - killing sixes - add 5pts

EDGE - anchors on the edge of a prime that can escape with 6's - add 15pts. For anchors that can escape with 5's and 6's - 25pts.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cube Action Criteria

13 pips or more you have an initial double

15 pips or more a Redouble

17 pips or less you have a take

24 pips or more you should play on for ther gammon

It may seem long winded, however:

you can quickly ignore any criteria that applies or does not apply to both sides; this quickens the process.

This is basically how it works! However, "accuracy is in the eye of the beholder".

Problems:

It doesn't do exactly what it says on the tin; so you're going to have to innovate. Play around with it; tell us what you think!

End

Rick has the files; I believe his words were: "you've given me a damn jigsaw puzzle to solve". He may be able to email you the knitted match.
