"The first rule of defense against a backgame is to ensure that your oppponent is playing one". I believe Robertie said that somewhere. If you don't hit, your opponent can easily win going forward, so B/23*/22 for me as well.

Not adding much to Daniel's post, but I liked to give the quote which is easy to memorize.
