If you don't hit you have decent chances to lose going forward and may even lose the race to big dubs. If you do hit, there's no guarantee that White can time a 53 game anyhow. Often White will switch into a 3 pt or 5 pt game.

Likely a trip to BK in store for you if you don't hit.
