Look in my original post and follow the link to Kit Woolsey original article about the random point play. First, you have to get a shot. Therefore, you have for best chances to hold both points. Then you need prevent defense and a a random point in the outfield, to get a second checker, to have a real chance for winning the game or avoiding gammon. And for this, one ore two men more behind - despite slowing down when dancing - is better. That is, i think, the reason behind the phantom prime approach.
