If Blue can turn this into a prime-v-prime battle, he will have the timing advantage, and a clear path to victory. The bar point is essential to such a battle, and Blue should be willing to take some risks to secure it. If Blue does not make the bar point now, he may never get it.

Even in the positions where Blue is on the 21 point, making the bar point leaves White in an awkward postition. Most of White's big numbers play badly for him. Eight rolls (66 55 65 61 and 51) force him to play behind Blue's blot altogether. And unless White would choose to hit -- leaving two blots inside -- another twelve rolls (64 63 62 54 53 and 52) do the same. Even when White rolls a one, he may have to hit loose, leaving a single shot (41 31 and 21). Only ten rolls allow White to make an inside point on Blue's head (11 22 33 44 23 24 and 34).

These odds incline me to make the bar point in all of these problems except Number 1. I like what Timothy said about that one. Both the front-loaded position and White's imminent attack indicate that four point is preferred.
