Zero equity opening plays

So I did look at some bot evals, and Stick is quite right (of course). For most rolls the normal play is too good, but a "normal looking" play is closest to zero. Basically all one needs to do to be in the right ballpark is avoid the really good moves (pointing, running with 65, etc.) and maybe play the 2nd or 3rd best move you can think of otherwise. It's not worth posting specifics, as for almost all rolls there are several choices around zero all too close to tell apart with a long rollout.
One thing I hadn't noticed before - if you can't play 61 to make the 7 point then it is a very awkward roll since both 1s and 6s generally play from the back men and you can't run with 61. That leaves the unpleasant choice of things like 24/18, 24/23 (U), 13/6 (T), or 24/18 6/5 ($). Whichever you pick you're probably stuck playing it.
Overall the rule is a bigger disadvantage for whoever has to pick a move than I would have expected.
