The way I think of this is this:

-1-2 PC: Free drop, take-point is 50 %

-1-4 PC: In something close to the opening position, the take-point including gammons is approx. 50 %. This is probably the reason for the misunderstanding that the scores are equivalent. As others have pointed out, the raw take-point is 34 %, and gammon-value is (a little over) 1.
