My backgame errors

#1 - We have a lot of timing, down almost 80 pips after the roll. However, with 8 men back we will have to give up something soon. Hitting and getting off the 20pt is premature. That's the point your opponent would love to make if you leave it since it's in front of your other two anchors and he'd finally be able to put those checkers stacked on the 6pt to good use. Running then from the 21pt should be quickly dismissed as it leaves you with a game you never really want unless you're desperate, the 20/23 backgame. I don't like giving up our rearmost anchor and allowing our opponent to eventually play behind our anchors and more importantly giving up that long term equity of the back anchor when our timing is so good we should be able to hang on to it for a long long time. This leaves breaking the 18pt. It's natural to spread the checkers in the outfield here. 18/13 18/12 is my play.
#2 - It seems to me this is basically the same problem, esp. since you have no good fives to play.
#3 - Ugh, we gave up the 23pt anchor. Normally this type of play would be a timing issue and I'd want to hop a rear checker. Here however after playing the 'forced' bar/21 we have good 1s, 2s, 3s, 5s, and 6s since our back checkers are so well diversified. What we wouldn't mind doing is getting another checker hit and remaking our 23pt! With no timing issues I guess I hit here, bar/21 9/4*.
#4 - Our game was so good and it's so bad because we gave up the 23pt anchor. Now our opponent is getting close to home and our backgame is becoming more like a high double anchor holding game than a backgame. Again we aren't concerned with timing as we are down 3.2 trillion pips and are well diversified. In my fantasy world we find another way to get a checker hit and remake the 23pt. The only way to do that is by hitting. Hitting has the small bonus here of giving the opponent some not so great numbers from the roof. [51 42 22 41] I suppose if he fans it's okay for us too.
As far as confidence goes on backgame positions I'm pretty confident with all of these and would hope my answers align with XGR++'s.
