I rather doubt that situation costs you a whole second. :)
As to your point, I use (and typically expect others to use) D for 13/10 13/7* and X for 24/21 13/7*. With H, my eye is not drawn to the bar point -- H would be naturally used for a hit on the far side. Perhaps that is just from having used Nactation (and in particular the hit-on-highest point convention) so often, I'm not sure.
That said, consider the position below:
Here, too, you can use either H or R for bar/16*. Again, I personally find H to be more descriptive, dynamic, and/or natural (take your pick), but either letter is fine. Granted, your eye is already drawn to the entering checker here, but the situations are otherwise similar in nature.
