This is not interesting with the cube and score as indicated, but with a centered cube in a long match, or with white owning the cube, I would not hit and just disengage. I'd play 24/18 and then pick a 5, I don't know which, probably continuing all the way, it does not matter much.

If you hit here, you slow down your opponent, and also reduce the number of checkers that may get buried. Having 7 checkers back instead of 6 increases the gammon rate a bit, but your first priority now is to win as many games by ensuring that white crunches as badly as possible. So let white move, making him bury his 9 checkers. Best not to hit, and to avoid getting hit (you may be forced to return hit from the bar in some situations).
