The publisher's website for Backgammon for Blood : A Guide for Those Who Like to Play but Love to Win by Chris Bray (Paperback - Oct 1 2007) ( http://www.sterlingpublishing.com/catalog?isbn=9781602391840 ) quotes the deceased (2005) Alan Truscott, the New York Times bridge columnist: "Interesting and lively…novel approaches for the practical player," which is what Truscott wrote long ago about the 1974 edition of Backgammon for Blood by "Bruce Becker."

Bruce Becker -- aka Chris Bray?

But on www.amazon.ca, Backgammon for Blood by Bray has the same cover as Bray's Backgammon to Win which came out earlier this year. Strange.

But then see Walter Trice's June 2007 article, "Blood Resurrection" at http://www.gammonvillage.com/backgammon/news/article_display.cfm?resourceid=5182 . Choice quote: "Becker's map of the world is missing a couple of continents."

And at the bottom of the page, see this:

Skyhorse, the publishers who were going to re- issue "Backgammon for Blood", have now discovered that they would have to re-create all the artwork as sadly(?) the originals have been lost. They have realised that this would be too expensive and have therefore decided not to go ahead with the re-issuse.

The listing on Amazon will be deleted in the very near future.

I guess this will save a new generation of players being misled and George W. and his family will just have to make do with their old copies!

Regards

Chris Bray
