SHG dice

Mike Petch has done a lot of work on the SHG dice in the yellow dice rooms (the ones with "real" dice as opposed to the red dice rooms with the screwy doubles) and has found the statistical distribution of the dice to be correct. I helped him with data collection at one point and we did look at dice by "seat" and did not see any difference between the seats. I can't check at the moment but I think there is a link in the "lobby links" listing in the doubling cube to Mike's dice data.
You are not the only one that has suggested that the luck factor on SHG seems to be rather large. I am not sure that there is a statistical norm for the size of the luck factor, so it makes coming up with a conclusion about this more difficult. Given that the overall dice distribution is within the expected values and that there is no bias between the two seats the only way I could see that the site could skew the luck value is if it was intentionally adding bias based on positional analysis. I think you could do this in a way that would not skew the overall dice data, but I cannot imagine why anyone would go to the trouble of programming a site to do this.
The other thing I can say is that the last time I reviewed the SHG dice data from matches I had played there the overall luck factor was very close to 0, which is what would be expected.
I know Mike has a very large data base for SHG matches, so I am sure he will add a comment about this at some point.
