What was Jason's phrase "Good Gravy today". Sadly mysterious gravy as well- a lot of these are just me drawing a random answer out of the hat.

#1 - 11/5 - we are keeping two game plans open here. We can either get a shot, hit it and try to contain or we can still race. We are behind in the race and it is DMP so I do not want to run the back checker yet. Hitting a shot seems unlikely and if it happens, we should still be in a reasonable position to contain. We should therefore keep focussed on the racing element and go for the cross over - 11/5 is better than 12/6 because it gives diversity in the unlikely event we hit.

#2 - 13/8, 6/5 - I cannot see any massive difference between the plays and (1) I would prefer to start the 5 point; and (2) 13/7 gives threes to hit which white could not otherwise usefully use elsewhere.

#3 - bar/18 - This play keeps our positional advantage - there may still be blots around next go, we will still be in the race and the useful midfield dominance will last for several rolls. Having said that, I almost always getting pinged every time I duck the opportunity to hit..... Here the two hitting moves both seem like risking our midfield advantage by committing to one risky gameplan.

#4 - 11/5, 11/10 - This play risks two extra shots for a far better chance to clear the last anchor in the longer term. White's board will probably weaken over the next couple of goes but will still be strong when the shot comes.

#5 - 13/9, 4/2*(2) - I hate double 2s. The double hit 4/2*(2), 3/1(2)* buries checkers and we do not have very much ammunition to deal with gap on the 3 & 4 points. Allowing white to anchor on the 2 point is handing him a well timed game plan. This play a bit of both - hits the checker on the 2 point and provides a little bit of ammunition for the gap on the 4 spot.
