It seems to me that your suggested play here does nothing to address Blue's problem which is to get his back checkers into play.

The "tweenie" play to me is a huge attempt to address that issue. Since the cube is centered I regard your "tweenie" play as being a fine approach to winning the game However, I could be way off base.:)
