Would never play under these circumstances

"I disagree with equating the usual time controls to "speed gammon""
I'm not equating the current time controls to speed-gammon, I think the time controls are about right but could be relaxed slightly. I think what many players would like to do is spend their time finding the best move, and that under the 'usual' time controls that option is only available to very strong players who can cut to the essence at a glance. Especially when multiple backgames or complicated or unusual positions present themselves during a match.
The essence of my argument/question is:
Do current 'usual' time controls give the elite players a greater advantage than they would normally possess in an unclocked match?
What say ye all? (*NM* isn't very informative)
