My point here is this: The cube is centered. Therefore gammons are not yet a part of the equation.

I can see that was your point, but my view would be that future cube action, not current cube position, determines whether gammons are in play, especially (but not only) when that cube action may be coming on the very next turn. Indeed, I think you indicated that gammons were "part of the equation" by justifying your choice of 24/23 5/2* because it would prevent a double.

A position about which I would think gammons were irrelevant with a centered live cube and Jacoby would be, for example, one where you overshoot your market and expect a double/pass next roll; and so you simply make the safest play, since you gain nothing from gammons.

About the play, I agree with Ben that 24/23 is essential. The take is very unclear to me after 6/3 4/3. 5/2*/1* seems worse, leaving Blue with too much to do. There's a very good reason for preferring 5/2* over 4/1*. When you are missed with a fan or anchoring number, all your checkers are still in play, and you have the possibility of making a broken 5-prime in front of the opposing checker(s).
