When I play 9pt matches with Kenji on GridGammon, we average less than 30 minutes per match. Hard for me to figure out how so many people take two hours or longer at a live tournament to finish a 9pter.

We never know if you're kidding or not but of course they're way shorter. You don't have to shake and roll every turn, the pip count is provided for you, the score is automatically kept so there's no writing and verifying between games, you don't have to set up the board after every game, generally people don't take breaks, and there's no chance of illegal moves.
