On the left, is the standard response position, 53P-43. The data combines to a bot aggregate of say [D=Z U10 S15]a. The key comparison is that U (Up, 24/20 24/21) has a .005 edge over S (Split, 24/20 13/10).

On the right is 52S-53P-53. Playing U (Up, bar/20 24/21) and S (Split, bar/20 13/10) reaches the same positions as playing U and S on the left, except that Blue has played an extra 5 down (13/8). This change skews the distribution in favor of U, thereby widening U's edge over S (from .005) to just under .024 (according to Dmitriy's 5k rollout -- I'd guess that an extension would widen the margin a bit more).
