Leo, Gnubg 2-ply is clueless here. It makes many mistakes in subsequent cube action and probably in checker play too, but I'll just show you two errors:

(1) The score is 5-5/7. Blue on roll.

Blue hit two checkers, White fanned, Blue doubles. Gnubg 2-ply takes. This is a huge drop. 2-ply thinks White wins about 38%, but White only wins about 24%.

(2) The score is 5-5/7. Blue on roll.

White hit one checker, Blue fanned, White has a double shot at the other checker. Gnubg 2-ply takes. 2-ply thinks White wins about 40%. This is too high by about 12%.

You'll get better Gnubg results with 3-ply, whose GWC estimates are a lot better than 2-ply, but be careful!
