Since there is no outstanding offensive play, let's get five pips closer to home while we can. This may be our last turn before the close out. We will need every pip if we are going have any chance to save the gammon.

If the alternative is to make the bar point, then this could have been a "next." Only a desperado would give up the best blocking point to make an inferior point, and leave a blot at the same time. Our opponent is already shooting a double shot with 1s and 3s on the other side. Giving him a 6 would be unnecessarily generous.

That same double shot is the reason I am not anxious to leave a loose blot in the home board with something like 8/3. So, like a said, "Next."
