Dear Mr. Murphy,
I have a lot of respect to a lot of your remarks and comments in connection with a lot of themes of modern and old backgammon at different forums.
Unfortunately, my ideas are not coming in your correct investigation. May be because you have not read my book "Fair Backgammon Tournament Rules", and you try to reconstruct some things that you don't know, can not test, imagine and have no experience. It is normally when somebody find something that another have not seen or not undertstood and it take a time before everybody can say: it is obviousely! Read my book, and we talk once more about my proposal to Fair Backgammon Tournament Rules.
But now I have developed another things that could be implemented in the BG-tournaments in the format described in my article as well as in connection with balanced scoring system for a game and a match proposed in my book.
According to your questions: "My question is: why should we believe your premise?"
You don't need to believe! You should try to do it. Who has believed Crawford when he proposed his rule? Do you know what happened after introducing of his rule? And how long the TD's should explain the players at the tournaments what is this? Do you really not believe that in such format I proposed 8 giants have more chances come on the top? Do you want to ask the GIANTS - are they prefer play my format or normal?
May be you can propose us something more interesting and more attractive instead of my suggestion? If "Not", try to test what I propose.
I don't want to talk about 72% of players who don't care about sense of backgammon and want to take part in some kind of entertaiment - nor more, nor less!
My main idea and my vision: BACKGAMMON IS INTELLECTUAL OLYMPIC GAME!
If you don't agree, than we have no theme to discuss.
Thank you for remarks and comments in any case.
