My top priority is moving the checker on the 9 pt. I don't want to duplicate the sixes we need for escape. A second, lower, priority is to duck XG's 33 joker. Perhaps even more important than ducking would be to bring another checker within direct range of a potential pick-and-pass, but that is not possible with this roll. The best we could do is to bring our checker down from the midpoint. That narrows our choices down to these three:
- 9/6, 18/16
- 9/7, 13/10
- 13/8
Should we hit loose if XG enters with one checker? I am reluctant to. Were White to roll a single 3, it would still be two to one. XG would have two checkers trapped by our five point block, while we would have only one trapped behind his prime. I would not like to see another checker of ours up on the bar.
I am beginning to see the wisdom of those who recommended the double-switch last time. Our pick and pass opportunities, especially the pass part, would be much cleaner were the open point higher in our board.
My vote: 9/6, 18/16
