I tried to be careful to separate your diagnosis of what ails backgammon from your prescription for fixing it. There is much that could be said about your prescription, but I addressed only your diagnosis.

I say: convince me that some plan -- not necessarily yours -- that would ensure that the very best players always finish on top in tournaments would be good for backgammon.

You say: you are misunderstood. I should read your book. I don't understand your proposal. I shouldn't ask you what evidence you have that your proposals would be good for backgammon, I should just "try it" anyway. Further, you "don't want to talk about 72% of players who don't care about sense of backgammon and want to take part in some kind of entertaiment ... My main idea and my vision: BACKGAMMON IS INTELLECTUAL OLYMPIC GAME!"

From which I gather you have little or no interest in what backgammon players actually want in their tournaments, except the ones who might share your vision of backgammon as an "intellectual Olympic game." Heaven forbid that anyone attend a tournament to be entertained!

You write: "If you don't agree, than we have no theme to discuss."

You might be right about that.

For backgammon, my measure of success is (1) a thriving network of local and regional or national entities promoting backgammon as a fun, exciting, challenging and competitive mind sport, whose sum efforts result in (2) a robust calendar of well-attended tournaments.

What's yours?
